Do You Play To Win?

by Darlene McDaniel on August 15th, 2007

I was out visiting some of my favorite blogs last night and found a great post over at JibberJobber. Jason Alba wrote a post called Complacency is for the Dogs. In the post Jason mentions a quote from Tiger Woods this past weekend PG Championship.

“I came here to win. I didn’t come to hit a few balls, or to walk around on a nice day, or to drop a few pounds. I came here to win.”

What a powerful statement! Playing to win is all in the mind. What are you thinking about when you walk into an interview? Do you play to win? Are you there to win? Or are you hoping you will get the job?

The thing that Tiger has over most of his competitors when he steps on the green is that he comes to win. He comes to be victorious over his competitors. He truly is not thinking about them or their ability or inability to beat him. He beats most of his competitors before he ever begins to play the game. Before he ever walks out on the green.

How many people walk in an interview with the attitude that they are getting the job! Not cocky, just INTENTIONAL, prepared and ready for the game - To WIN!!

[…] interveriw? You must play the game of interviewing to win. Review this post I did recently about Tiger Woods. He plays the game to win. I personally believe he wins prior to ever getting on the greens and hitting his first ball. He […]

    Ms. Darlene,
I just simply love this post. It is so true. It gets to the core right away. I don’t need to write anything more describing it. It speaks for itself. Thank you so much for telling me to read these posts.
