Go Get the Job!
Here is a question I responded to on LinkedIn this evening:
Question: “If you were searching for a job and weren’t getting the results you wanted from your job search, what would you do?
What tools would you try next? Would you take a class? Go back to school? Would you contact anyone to help you? What steps would you take to turn around the situation and get a job?”
My Answer: Your question says “you aren’t getting the results you wanted from your job search”. The end result of any job search for me means you are not getting job offers. With that assumption, my first recommendation is that you need to adjust how you are communicating your skills and abilities in the interview. Here is one of the keys I share with those I coach, Every time you open your mouth in an interview, you should be communicating “why you are the best candidate for the job.” It is not something you actually say. But with solid preparation for each interview, you can walk in there and knock them off their feet and get the interview.
How do you do that? It is going to take an investment of your time to prepare for the interview. With jobs I have gotten in the past, I would prepare upwards to a week before going to the interview. You might ask, how do you do that if you have not been offered the interview? I knew the job I was looking for, I knew the jobs I was applying for, and I had a copy of every job description. I studied them, I knew their job better than they did and I was prepared. It is very difficult to communicate all that I could share with you here, but here are a few links that may help:

If you are in the midst of a job search, how do you measure your results?
Do you look at the number of resumes you sent today?
Do you count the number of interviews you are doing?
What is your ultimate goal when you are out looking for a job? Just in case you missed in my answer, your only goal when out interviewing for a job is to go get the job!
