“Happy Halloween? Not!”
I have no understanding about why we celebrate Halloween in this country. I have to believe that people don’t know what they are celebrating. So, I thought I would share a little of the history of Halloween. We say Happy Halloween”. What is that? Happy Halloween? Not! I don’t celebrate this holiday and my children have never been trick or treating. Any way.. rather than getting on my soapbox.. Here is some information for you to consider as you celebrate this “holiday.” Enjoy your Wednesday and keep your children safe!

Halloween has never been a Christian holiday and it has no place in the life of a born-again believer in Jesus Christ. In fact, it is an abomination in God and we should take our stand firmly against it. We consider ourselves, America a Christian nation. As we look at this history we find that its roots go deep into heathenism, paganism, Satanisn, and the occult; and its modern day expression is no better.
Halloween (It’s History and Origin)
Three hundred years before Jesus was born a civilization of people called the Celtic lived throughout the British Isles, Scandinavia and Western Europe. They were a common group, much like many segments of society of priests and pagans called the Druids.
The Druids were Satanists who worshiped and served the demonic god of death - Samhain (pronounced Saman). These satanic priests literally controlled people’s lives through the mechanism of fear, and much death, disease and destruction came upon the Celtics as a result of the Druids and their practices.
Each year on October 31, the Druids celebrated the eve of the Celtic New Year in honor of their pagan god, Samhain. The “Festival of Samhain,” more accurately called “The Festival of Death,” was officially known, and is still recognized today by all Satanists, occultists and devil worshippers and the eve of the New Year for witchcraft.
The late Anton Lavey, author of “The Satanic Bible” and the once high priest of the Church of Satan, said there are three important days of Satanists:
1. Their birthday
2. April 30
3. The most important day - HALLOWEEN
Lavey says it is on this night that satanic, occult and witchcraft powers are at their highest potency level, and any witch or occultist who has been having difficulty with a spell or curse can usuallly achieve success on October 31, because Satan and his powers are at their best that night.
October 31, Halloween, is the eve of the New Year for witchcraft. The World Book Encyclopedia says it is the beginning of all that is “cold, dark and dead!” When you send your little children out to go trick-or-treating you’re actually telling them to celebrate all that is cold, dark, and dead!

I would classify myself as a born again Christian and I would respectfully disagree with you. It’s not the history of Halloween nor is it the recognition of Satanists that people are supporting.
I might argue that the holiday of Halloween has been diluted and has taken power away from evil-doers. Now it’s a day of giving, of creativity, and fun… these are things that Satan would never enjoy.
Another metaphor: I’m sure that the Internet has become one of the strongest tools of evil in the modern age - in fact, pornography is still the number 1 business on the Internet. Because of that, do we stop using the Internet? Absolutely not - instead we battle evil with good spread His Word as much as we can here.
And that’s what we should do with Halloween! It’s a day to share candy with kids and tell them how much we love and appreciate them. We let them dress up as ghouls and goblins so that they can ridicule evil.

Hi Doug, Thanks for opening the discussion on this topic I thought long and hard about before putting it on my blog. I appreciate your views. And I have no problem with you disagreeing with me. I am sure there are many people who do.
My comments on a few of your points. First, as much as you may believe that this holiday has become diluted, and that power has been taken away from evil-doers, please help me understand why we spend sooooo much time warning a children to be careful during this holiday? Our society has not become safer. It is more dangerous than ever out there and a “holiday” like Halloween, is a time when people who are evil, attempt to take advantage of unsuspecting people.
Second, if Halloween is a time to share candy with children and let them know how much we love and appreciate them, I would challenge you that there are 364 days of the year that we have that opportunity. I tell my children as often as I can how much I love them and appreciate them and do not need a “holiday” like Halloween which in its very roots propagates evil. My love for my children and even others, does not need to be cloaked in costume and candy.
This day may be a day of giving, fun, and creativity from your perspective, but not from the perspective of those who mean harm. People who are up to no good in this season, use the perspective of fun, creativity and giving as a gateway do evil things, because of the deceptions, self-deception we allow ourselves to believe about what we are celebrating on this day. I stand by my belief that it, Halloween is an “out of alignment” experience for me as a Christian. How can I out of one side of my mouth say I love God, and celebrate a day that gives honor to the enemy of that same creator.
Thanks again!! For stopping by Interview Chatter and opening the conversation. I look forward to your thoughts and the thoughts of others who would like to weigh in today!

Samhain, it is too bad that you feel the need to hide behind this name. Rather than dialoging about the topic. You are welcome to leave a comment that discusses your perspective. I am confident in who I am and what I believe. Feel free to share your real name and what it is you believe. I am open to dialog with you.

“When I was young I thought like a child and acted like a child, but when I became old I put childish things away.” That’s what the Word of God says. When we are young, we do stupid and childish things unless we have someone to inform us they are wrong. I thank God that Darlene has posted this blog to inform and educate both Christian believers and unbelievers alike of the evils associated with Halloween. When I came to the full understanding of what Halloween was truly about, I forbid my children to go trick-or-treating. It was really the candy and love they wanted, so I gave them both. Now that I’m a grandmother of 5, I take them to ‘harvest fest’ at my local house of worship, during the daylight hours. I do not want them out there at night, even with their parents, being put in harms way, on Halloween or any other night. My prayer is that more Christians and non-believers would take the time to educate themselves on the facts about Halloween and take action. God bless you Darlene for your stand, as a born again believer, for the truth about Halloween……..Paula

I agree with Darlene fully on this topic. It is interesting as a beliver myself where we take things that are evidently to celebrate evil and try to twist into a time to share with kids and give candy and lastly decorate. Excuse me but we can do that all year long with our children and to promote them celebrating a holiday filled with darkness is not my idea of an holiday. When I was young we celebrated halloween and I always had a sense of being scared certainly not excitement so in my eyes anything that has that type of fear attatched to it can not be all that great. I now have a child and we do not celebrate but it is funny how the world will try to push you to do it. We can not say the name of Jesus or pray in our schools but my child can go dressed in a costume to celebrate something I disagree with. I think at the end of the day we all have the to search the Lord for ourselves and He will reveal truth to you. If you are a christian and do not agree with Darlene do just that and then answer to the blog. I mean really pray to the Father because in all His truth is not distorted or dilluted to make it go down easier. The history is very true provided in this blog and we need to know the dead are celebrated as well on this holiday and Jesus Christ is well and alive so why am I celebrating death exactly?

Darlene, I’m glad to see this posted. We need more education and awareness on what the holiday is all about.
