Is Your Smile Valuable?
“When you’re smiling, when you’re smiling, the whole world smiles with you…” I remember this line from a commercial jingle. I am not sure the whole world will smile with you, but maybe you can get the hiring manager to smile with you.
Powerful, genuine smiles begin with your eyes not with your mouth. If you are unsure about how powerful your smile is, get in front of a mirror and practice. Look at your eyes rather than your mouth. When your convinced that your eyes have that twinkle, now your ready to test it live in public with others.
Your smile is an incredibly powerful tool for you to use in an interview.
How a smile will help:
1. Your smile will draw people to you
2. Your smile wil help put people at ease with you
3. Your smile will help others who may be having a bad day
Your smile, your genuine smile, will communicate that you are friendly and happy to be there. I don’t recommend that you sit through the interview with a “McDonald’s” smile on your face, but I do recommend that you smile throughout the interview. When you are leaving and shaking hands, make eye contact and smile!
