Season 6 - The Apprentice - Week 8
GNC Halftime Show
Recap: The teams were given the task to promote GNC during a halftime show at the Los Angeles Galaxy soccer game. The team that best promotes the brand will win. It took a lot for me to write about the Apprentice, Week 8. I was disgusted by the way the people were treating one another. In the end Surya was fired from Arrow. The problem with the Arrow team was they didn’t like Surya and they were unwilling to give him a chance to lead them. There was one idea from the Arrow team. Tim was the only one to come up with an idea. In Surya’s effort to solicit more ideas, the team came up empty. In the end Arrow lost because of poor execution. Kinetic had some issues in their planning of the halftime show, but in the end Kristine was confident and led her team to victory. They had an excellent concept, a Vitamin Obstacle Course, and their execution was great.
Coachable Moment: Leadership and team dynamics was truly what Surya struggled with throughout his time on Arrow. Surya struggled to adapt his leadership style. Many people struggle to adapt their style of leadership to team they lead. Many times we lead from our strengths and weakness rather than adjusting for the situations, people, the dynamics of the group we are leading. Situational Leadership in it’s simplist terms refers to a leader that can adapt himself and his style to different situations. All leaders could learn from this model. Surya would have been stronger if he had been able to adjust his style to Arrow on during his interview process.

I totally agree that Surya is too dogmatic and like a machine. Especially, I dislike him due to his disloyalty. Why does he always come to his former team for help? It’s really disgusting.
