Season 6 - The Apprentice - Week 9
Let me begin by saying that I enjoyed the show this week. It was much better than the previous 3 or 4 weeks. That being said here is the summary and the lessons you can learn from week 9 of this 14 week interview!
Recap:The teams were given the task to create a webisode promoting Soft Scrubs new product, Soft Scrub Deep Clean Foaming Cleanser. The webisodes were 45 seconds long. The team that leveraged the product the best in the webisode would win.
For the most part both teams played nice this week. Muna seemed to be the most challenging person between both teams. In the end she gets fired in the board room. Why? Because ultimately, she was the weakest link on the Kinetic team.
The webisodes created by both teams was fun and very well done. Kinetics webisode was difficult to understand because of Muna heavy accent. It definitely would have been better to have her behind the scenes in this task rather than in the webisode.
Lessons Learned:
1. First thing I would say is that it is not always easy to fire someone. I know that Mr. Trump was not really sure who he wanted to fire this week. Someone had to go and in the end I would say that he made the best decision given the players. I believe that Kristin and Heidi are the two strongest players left in the field. I would be surprised if one of them didn’t get the job!
2. Team chemistry was strong on Arrow team and I believe ultimately it helped them win this task. They didn’t win because of any influence of James as Project Manager. I will give him credit for one thing - he stayed out of the way of his team and allowed them to synergize and collaborate on the final edits of the webisode. In the end, that was brillant on his part. He admittedly had no experience and was willing to trust his team with the final outcome. That was great!
3. Governor Arnold Schwarzenager was on The Apprentice this week. He was the prize for the winning team, Arrow. The lessons you can take are brief snippets we got in the reward segment of the show. Here is what I gleaned:
1. Don’t ever let nay sayers stop you from pursuing your dreams.
2. You must be hungry if you want to succeed in life.
3. Pain is temporary. Push past temporary discomfort and leave a legacy that will remain forever.
I took some creative license with the lessons from the Terminator! Chew on these things. I may just write about them one day here in the blog.
Note:Overall, I enjoyed this episode of The Apprentice. I will say for the record, I will probably not follow the show after this season. For the most part I have been disappointed this season. I am not sure what Mr. Trump can come up with for season 7, but I personally believe that the people make the show. Unfortunately the integrity and professionalism of the candidates has decreased significantly from the first couple of years. I will continue to follow this season to the end, but I will retire this category on my blog after the winner is announced.
