Season 7 - The Apprentice - Week 6

by Darlene McDaniel on February 8th, 2008

celebrity-apprentice2.jpgThis week The Apprentice began with a bang or maybe a whimper! It all depends on how you saw Stephen Baldwin’s rant about quitting. Let me say this, Piers Morgan is in the driver’s seat right now. He has everyone reacting to his antics and he is enjoying the ride. Will he survive and be the last one standing? I doubt it! But he may be one of the final four.

This week’s show featured Vera Wang, Fashion Designer. Vera Wang designed a Serta mattress.

The Task: Create a living window featuring Vera Wang’s Serta mattress. The displays would be evaluated on creativity, brand imaging, and entertainment value.

The end result, Hydra won with their Cleopatra and Mark Anthony theme. It was out of the box thinking and very creative. And Empresario, the ladies posted another loss and Nelly Galan was fired!

Tonight’s show was more about residual issues and not the actual task that each team struggled through this week. Here are the residual issues that got carried over to this show:

1. Piers Morgan’s ethical issues from week 5

2. Nelly Galan - lack of contribution in areas that are her strengths

Both of these two residual issues took center stage in the show this week. Stephen Baldwin attempted to quit. He decided he didn’t want to work with Piers Morgan. Bad move on his part in my opinion and it will come back and haunt him before The Celebrity Apprentice is over.

Nelly Galan should have been fired weeks ago when Gene Simmons was fired. Mr. Trump was “laying in wait” for her. He was waiting for Empresario to lose and for Nelly Galan to come back into the board room. It really didn’t matter who didn’t perform on Empresario this week. Mr. Trump had already decided Nelly Galan was out of there and she was, with very little input from anyone else.

Lessons:

1. Don’t let anyone push your buttons to the point where you threaten to quit and then you stay. You can never take the words “I quit” back. Bottom line: If you like the job, you want to keep the job, no matter what is going on, don’t utter the words “I quit”! Don’t do it. Trust me when I tell you, it will come back and haunt you and Stephen Baldwin.

2. Add value when you have something to offer. And stay out of the firing line if the boss is out to get you. The boss knew she had more to offer and the boss was waiting to fire her. Nelly Galan’s lack of contribution gave Mr. Trump (the boss) the justification to terminate her employment.
