Tag! You’re It!

I was tagged by Kelly Phillips Erb over at Taxgirl. My job, should I choose to except it, is to share 7 Random facts about myself and tie them to my blog Interview Chatter! I choose in - I’m it!

So here are my 7 Random Facts:

1. I was convinced I had something when it came to interviewing back in 1997. I interviewed for a job at American Express back then. The day of my interview I had red eyes, because I had been up all night crying about the job I was in at the time with another organization. How does one pull oneself together and go interview for a job within 30 minutes from the time the phone rang?

2. The job I mention above was offered to me. Here’s the amazing part I am most proud of… I was the first of 25 candidates who interviewed for that position and I got it!!

3. I figured out back in 1995, that I needed to understand the nature of the game of interviewing. Why you might ask? Because, back then when I was interviewing for my first management position, I didn’t know the person on the other side of the table was looking for a specific answer. As a result - I didn’t get the job. I might add that was the last time I didn’t get a management position through an internal posting.

4. I wrote a class called Tough Questions? Great Answers! The class was birthed out of my mistakes, and poor interviews.

5. I have coached well over 100 people (it’s probably more than 100, but I lost count a long time ago) on how to go get the jobs they want to get.

6. As a result of an interview in 1994, I went back to school and finished my undergraduate degree in Business Management. I was tired of people telling me they would hire me, but they couldn’t because I didn’t have a degree.

7. My husband and my teenage daughter allow me to coach them when they are looking for jobs. My teenager recommends me to her friends, teachers and anyone else that will listen to her. I have a fan club at home!

In order to complete my assignment for Kelly, I have to tag 7 other bloggers and post the rules of engagement.
