Unstoppable Teacher/Astronaut!
I was reading the paper this morning and stumbled on the story of Barbara Morgan. Barbara Morgan was the runner up in the Teacher in Space programs years ago. The person to beat her out was Christa McAuliffe. Do you remember her? She was the teacher that was on the Challenger Space Shuttle that blew up in January 1986. I remember exactly where I was the day Challenger exploded.
Barbara Morgan could have been on the Challenger Space Shuttle if she had won, but she wasn’t. She is alive and well and she is about to fly into space as the first teacher to go to space.
The potential danger does not stop Barbara Morgan - She has perservered for more than 20 years to become the first teacher in space. And now in a couple of days Barbara Morgan will take off in the Space Shuttle Endeavor and see that dream realized.
Maybe you are wondering what I am writing about Unstoppable people. I talk to lots of people every day and most people tend to be defeated when things don’t go quite they way they want them to go.
Given my passion for seeing people successfully navigate the turbulent waters of the interview process, I wonder how different interviews could be for candidates who came with an Unstoppable attitude.
I wonder how differently people might prepare if they could get past their own limitations and become Unstoppable.
I wonder what people could really do if we could somehow embody an Unstoppable attitude where we nothing seems impossible to achieve. That’s what I want you to take away from these stories. NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR YOU TO ACHIEVE!
