Video Resumes - You Be the Judge
I am absolutely convinced that Video Resumes are a mistake for job seekers. How is this a win/win for both parties in this transaction? I found some video resumes from You Tube. Take a look. This first video is actually a video of an interview. We get to see the interview. It is Monty Python and there is some humor to it. I share this video only for this reason - Interviews apart from cameras can be a nightmare for both the candidate and the interviewer, depending on who is misbehaving as you will see in this clip. Enjoy and leave your comments.
Video Resumes - These people want jobs. I want to know if you would bring these people into your organization? I truly want to know. Leave your comments about which of these candidates you would invite in for a face to face. Would you consider hiring them? Why? or Why not?
Here is a second Video Resume for your review:
I look forward to hearing from you. I will share my thoughts on our candidates in a few days.

After viewing those two video resumes I am not longer a fan of them. I have seen them at their worst through these two videos.
Job searching is hard enough why make it harder by making yourself look so unprofessional through these type of videos.
The first guy was dressed professionally but had strange outdated music at the beginning and looked like a bad used car salesman who could not read the script all that well. I only lasted four minutes and had to shut it off.
I don’t know what to say about the first guy who hates the state of Virginia. Isn’t it a Commonwealth and not a state? I guess it doesn’t matter. Can Seattle be all that much better with all that rain? I know I am conservative and all but do you really think you should have swear words in your video resume? Maybe it’s just me but…

Hey Justin, thank you so much for your comments. I will reserve my comments for a couple more days, but I must say that your assessment is exactly why I don’t believe many candidates will find themselves getting jobs based on Video Resumes. Unless the person is polished and has a professionally produced video, I can’t see many candidates being successful with this technology. I will let you know when I post my assessment of the videos. I look forward to getting to know you in this world of blogging. I will be visiting your site!!
